Sebastian Kolowa University College Of Tumaini University Makumira

Sebastian Kolowa University College (SEKUCo) of Tumaini University Makumira in Lushoto Tanzania has been authorized by the Tanzania Commission for Universities to admit candidates for the Bachelor of Education Special Needs (BEdSN) degree using the In-service mode.

Entry Requirements are as follows:

1. Work Experience: Having taught for 3 or more years in Primary or Secondary Schools or Colleges

2. Age: Not more than 45 years of age

3. Academic Qualifications:

Minimum of three credits “C” at Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (O-level)

AND

Either a Diploma in Special Needs Education

OR

A Certificate in Special Needs Education with an average of “B” grade or above

Please note that this is an In-service programme for Teachers with training in Special Needs Education who are currently working in the field and teaching in schools and colleges.

The BEdSN degree programme offers core courses in General Education, Special Needs Education, Inclusive Education and Early Intervention. In addition, a candidate must choose ONE Special Needs Education Subject among the following:

1.   Visual Impairments
2.  Hearing Impairments
3. Speech and Language Disorders
4. Cognitive Disabilities and Autism Spectrum

A candidate also selects ONE Teaching Subject among the following:

1.     Physics
2.    Chemistry
3.   Biology
4.   Mathematics
5.    Geography
6.   Political Science
7.  History
8. Economics
9.   English
10.    Kiswahili
